Jesus said:
(Matthew 12:33): "Either make the tree good (Literally, "beautiful"), and its fruit good, or make the tree rotten and its fruit rotten; by their fruits you shall keep on knowing them."
Applies to all sorts of things, including politics, life, lifestyles, investing, money, jobs, all kinds of things, not just religious matters.
It's one of those "universal truths" that speak to a host of issues in every society. If the fruit is rotten, the tree from which it came was rotten, and the TREE CAUSED THE FRUIT. If the fruit is good, the tree caused that as well.
